Before and after: A spacious, modern extension at Rosenthorpe Road, Nunhead
Our clients’ Victorian home on Rosenthorpe Road in Nunhead had already been extensively modernised, but the space was looking dated. As a result, they worked with an architects practice to come up with something even more contemporary, replacing the side return extension and adding substantially to it at the rear of the property.
They called on Sentinel Design and Build to turn these plans into a reality, extensively refurbishing the ground floor inside and out, in addition to the upstairs bathroom.
A new vision for the kitchen
With the addition of the new extension, the kitchen merges with a dining are that then sprawls in a voluminous living space behind the house. Underfloor heating installed by our plumbing and heating team warms the room.
A stylish new contemporary kitchen was installed, including an island for casual dining and food preparation. The roof over the dining area has been replaced with expansive panes of architectural glass allowing in the maximum natural light possible, while another skylight illuminates the rest of the extension.
Full-width sliding doors at the rear open onto decking for that ‘bringing the outdoors in’ vibe. Externally, the extension has been clad in Shou Sugi Ban charred timber, in keeping our clients’ taste.
The ideal bathroom
The bathroom renovation at Rosenthorpe Road brings the luxury of a walk-in shower, new porcelain throughout and slab flooring and splashback around the bathtub which cleverly integrates the space.
